In the city that goes wild for blue, Saint Joseph Health System has joined the American Heart Association in urging people to Go Red For Women. Saint Joseph is the exclusive cause sponsor for the association’s Go Red For Women program in Central Kentucky, which alerts women to their susceptibility to cardiovascular disease and helps them take steps to reduce their risk for it. The hospital system is helping raise the Go Red For Women’s profile in Central Kentucky through messaging, participation in events, and outreach to underserved sectors of the community.
Go Red For Women is a nationwide program now in its sixth year. This movement offers guidance and support to help women take charge of their heart health and make healthy lifestyle changes.
Heart disease is the number-one killer of women, a fact that may surprise many. Perhaps more surprising, it kills more women than men.
